Modern Artwork in a Traditional Space

In a space with a lot of traditional detailing, such as the one pictured here, modern artwork can add a breath of fresh air. Appropriately custom framed in a simple gold float frame, this piece takes the cake in this spectacular space! Yet, its scale doesn't overpower the room. Just lovely.

Wallpaper is back!

Wallpaper is back in a big way! And that’s okay, as long as you know how to hang art over wallpaper – we must never forget about the art! With busy paper, such as the one pictured below, it’s best to feature art, fitted with simpler custom frame mouldings, as to not compete with the pattern and contrasting tones in the wallpaper. This helps the art stand out and the paper provides the perfect backdrop!

Basic Principals of Creating a Photo Wall Display

Basic Principals of Creating a Photo Wall Display

The concept of a photo wall is simple: Just place your favorite pictures in frame
s of different sizes and shapes and hang them in a mosaic pattern. There are, however, some general principals that will help make your wall look especially beautiful.
  • Frames should hang at eye level (around or slightly above five feet) from the floor. Hang them a little bit higher if you have high ceilings (or a very tall family - LOL).
  • Help the pictures come together by using similar picture styles (i.e. black and white or sepia), frames, or mat color. Don't be afraid to contrast too. For example, if you're going with all black and white photos, use frames of varying textures and sizes to add some pizzazz.
  • Some interesting but simple arrangements include diamond or rectangular shapes. You might want to choose one that will be easy to add to until you’ve formed an overall shape that works for you.
  • If you’re short on space, consider collage or multi-picture frames. With this type of frame, you're able to artfully display many photos in a small amount of space. Many options exist in this category and you can easily find both wall hanging and table top designs. Additionally, a great hanging kit can work wonders in helping to easily and efficiently complete your photo wall display!

Photo Gallery Wall

Here’s a fantastic photo gallery wall in a stairway. With this many images in one grouping, it would be easy for it to look overwhelming and busy… But, thanks to the frames all staying in the same family of tones, and the generously proportioned mat widths adding visual relief, this one really works!

Love it or Forget it?

Love it or Forget it? When wall space is at a premium, would you hang (custom framed) art on the back of a door – is it a great use of space or just not right for you? You decide!

Pictures With Snata

A great Christmas tradition remembered each year. Santa Claus Pictures - I love this idea (although ours would have to be of children screaming on Santa's lap if we did it), but the real reason for the pin is the instructions. They are needed for the Yearly Christmas Pictures idea.

Just use your imagination

We’re never at a lack for art, just of imagination. Textiles are a fantastic example of
this… Take a favorite pillow cover, tea towel or fabric remnant to your local custom framer. Have them work their magic, and voila! Beautiful, memorable, personal ART.

Be Transformed!

Note how all of the photos in this image are of square orientation. However, after custom framing them, they are transformed... This is all thanks to that generously bottom-weighted mat, which can not only alter the overall proportions of your custom framed art, but also adds a designer touch. —
