Mix Colors

Don't be afraid to mix colors and styles in a wall grouping. Here, the sharp black and whites blend with the wall and woodwork colors, while the earth tone frames and mats coordinate with other accessories in the vignette.

When searching for the perfect things to have framed to fill those empty walls, you may not have to look any further than your camera. Print out an enlargement of one of your favorite images and have it framed.

When you have your bathroom mirrors custom framed, the frames can accentuate colors and the style used in the room. Whether you want a single mirror to fit over the sink, a larger mirror over the entire vanity, or something more creative as shown here, custom framing provides a great solution.

Custom Framing Tips We like to remember life's special moments, don't we? So getting something framed shouldn't be so complicated, right? For many, choosing between a metal frame or a gold leaf frame sounds like another language. Things you... should know before setting foot in a custom frame shop. Tip #1: Framing is more expensive than you think. Even if you just paid $5 for that small watercolor you bought while backpacking through Europe a few years ago, it may cost more than $100 to frame. The cost of a frame is a per-foot rate, ranging from under $3 to more than $50 a foot depending on the materials used to make the frame. Even the glass can be pricey. One way to justify the hit to your bank account is to realize that this may be the only time you ever frame the piece if it's framed well, "You're not going to frame it again perhaps in your lifetime."

Unique Framing Idea

I Phone Art Cases

Christopher Beikmann I Phone Art Cases, coming soon!

Frame for the art, but consider the room

An off-white liner inside the frame may have been a more common choice for this painting than black. Had off-white been used, the black chairs would have captured all the attention. The black liner helps the art make a stronger statement. Frame for the art, but consider the room.

Create Drama

Now... THIS is how you create drama & interest with fabulously framed art! Note the beautiful, empty frames that are hung off to the side to balance & lighten the large piece. http://pinterest.com/pin/43347215133642562/ That amazing floor and wall color isn't too shabby either :-)

Flat Screen TV

Flat screen TVs are taking up more of the prominent wall spaces where framed art used to hang, often to the detriment of the ambiance and style of the decor. This great idea shows how you can integrate the TV by including it as a part of a wall grouping with framed art.

Popular Groupings

This photo shows two ideas we've shared before. First, the popular look of grouping framed art with no space between each piece. Second, maintain a common line throughout the grouping (in this case the top row is separated from the bottom row by a straight line) to prevent the arrangement from looking busy or chaotic.

Embroidered Fabric Panels

These two embroidered fabric panels were mounted to rigid backings and then laid onto plain fabric panels, serving as mat borders. Notice how the "mats" are elongated, to give a look like the traditional Asian scrolls. You can adapt this design idea to suit your personal style buy framing yards of any decorative, patterned fabric.

Pair of Art, change them up!

If a pair of art pieces is just a bit too predictable for you, choose your own combinations. You can hang two (or more) dissimilar pictures together. Use lamps, pillows, and other accessories to create the overall balance within the room where they hang.
